Near is a decentralized application platform project. Its blockchain operates under a modified Proof of Stake consensus, called Nightshade, aimed at offering low fees as well as some better scalability. Its protocol is designed to be easy to use and to make applications usable on the web. The Near platform makes it possible to store and calculate informations on high-value assets while offering maximum security. Near uses a technique called partitioning which consists in fragmenting the network. So calculations can be done in parallel and network throughput increases as the number of nodes increases!
